Week 3

This FYP required to design a system which able to detect the location/distance of a client (Mobile device) using IEEE802.11 b/g/n (WiFi Signal).

The system consists of :

1. Database Server with database application - used to store the data location of the static or moving mobile device. The data will be used to identify the location (before and current status) of the device when required.

2. Switch – to allow connection from server to Access Points (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n)

3. Access Point – IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standard. Required to used Arduino WiFly Shield (With stackable headers)

4. Mobile Client - Capable to communicate using the IEEE802.11 b/g/n standard.

The AP will detect and monitor the location and movement of the mobile device that hook up to the WiFi network. All the information of the distance and location will be store inside the web server. The server must have the capability to display information of the mobile device location or distance as required by the requestor.


WiFly Shield from Arduino (Please refer this site for information: http://www.myduino.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=50&product_id=176) will be used as the Access Point which have the capability to communicate using IEEE802.11 b/g/n.

Week 2


Basically this 2 week is about figuring things, read our some journal, website n other people's blog. Sir just come out with the idea but i have to execute, its my project right? so this is it! searching, browsing. nothing much but i know it will helps..

before this, i just used the Wifi without knowing the real flow of the connection. the real concept that i know was;
configure>connect>surf!>wallAA!! Facebook, blogger>disconnect..
that was it. but now, i have to understand about the whole process, whole idea of WiFi.. I am now working on the flow chart of my project, the real process, and thing that i expect to happen by using the system.

Week 1

Registration of Project Topic start at Week 1, every student are require to select one lecturer as their supervisor. I already select MRAR as my supervisor. i approach him, during my semester break before we start our semester, and we decided to proposed 'Location Detection Using WiFi IEEE802.11b Signal' as my project topic. these are the details that been updated in RPS website.
